The history of Winterhoff

Traditional knowledge and reliability, as well as enthusiasm for innovation and new solutions, have shaped Winterhoff's business decisions from the very beginning. For these reasons, the company's management decided to take over ALBE BERNDES back in 2001, the second oldest German manufacturer of coupling heads, pooling a wealth of specialist industry knowledge.

In 2016, 15 years after the takeover of ALBE BERNDES, came the next change for Winterhoff. Due to thriving business and the high quality standards the German brand has always been known for, Winterhoff attracted the attention of AL-KO Vehicle Technology. AL-KO management was so convinced of Winterhoff's potential that it proceeded with the takeover. AL-KO, in turn, has been operating under the umbrella of DexKo Global Inc. since 2016,the world's largest manufacturer of trailer axles and chassis components in the lightweight segment. As a result of the merger, Winterhoff is now also part of this international company.

After the merger with AL-KO, Winterhoff continued to realise its ambitions in terms of first-class quality and was able to take its success to the next level. Quality standards have been consistently high for all the brand’s products and led to positive developments. AL-KO is therefore committed to preserving the Winterhoff quality brand in the long term.
